So it has now been a day and a week since we “landed” in Georgia. It has been a very long and taxing few months preparing to come here, both physically and spiritually. I would say the whole process started back before Tom and I were married when Tom was on his mission. A lot of it is hard to remember for him, but something has always pulled us to the Adairsville area of Georgia. We have looked at the area via the internet for a few years now, and saw that house prices were low compared to most other areas, so that was enticing, but it was more than that, and we are still unsure of why exactly we felt prompted to come here. I am sure that as we keep moving forward, we will understand further.
It has been a crazy week! We pulled in last Thursday evening just as it was beginning to get dark. The cicadas were just coming out and it sounded so loud. It was also hot and humid and it felt to me like we had come to the Amazon Jungle. Everything seemed so foreign. We were also very tired for having traveled 3 very long days and having lost two hours from the time change. So things looked a little bleak that first night. But things have gotten progressively brighter every day since. The day after we drove in, some special friends of ours from the area came and helped us unload the truck and maneuver the truck and trailer so we could do so. This was one of those little things that was a huge deal to us and just another one of the Lord’s tender mercies in our lives. We have attended out new ward here and already feel very welcome. People were so very friendly. We are mostly unpacked and hope to finish that tomorrow. And Tom has an interview next week for a job. We are growing to really love it here. There are so many new things to explore and learn about. We miss Wyoming and our family and friends, but we are excited for our new adventure here. Pictures and updates to come!
