This is the beautiful pumpkin cake Lucy picked for her birthday cake. She is such a sweet little girl. She sees beauty in so many things, even her mother’s unprofessional cake decorating. I think the spiced almonds and candles placed just so made it that much more special to our wonderful Lu.
For part of Lucy’s birthday present, we enrolled her in dance class. Here are a couple of pictures of her first day. Stay tuned for a post on her upcoming recital in a couple of months!

And of course, ballet. She was so attentive to her teacher and wanted to learn everything her teacher was showing/teaching her.
Lucy is still a bright light in our family. She loves to do nice things for people. She writes many love notes and draws many pictures for us all. She is very driven to learn things. Part of this may have to do with her desire to be like her older brother and sister, but part is just how she has always been, eager to learn. She really is a sponge. She has a gift for learning things through listening. She has memorized many stories that are more than a few lines. Paragraphs, and pages, really. Her memory and ability to learn things through listening astounds me. She has learned many things because of her own desire to do so, reading being one of those things. Two of the things she has recently asked me to teach her (because that is what she does!) are to play the piano and crochet.
She loves all things feminine and girly. Princesses, pink, dress ups, sparkly, flowers, jewelry, dancing, you get the picture. She also loves to play house with Tommy. There are some days when they play “the game” all day long, constantly changing the characters, scenarios, dialogue, and plot. So fun to watch and listen to.
Speaking of listening, recently she has taken to adding vibrato to her singing. In primary, at home, where ever she is singing she has added it. Reminds me of someone. . .Mom, you know who I’m talking about, right? We sure love our Lu.
