Kids and Babies

I know have gotten behind and more than just the fun of having this stuff up here for others to view, I want to have a place where I have written down the little things that I might forget later. And since I am not a scrapbooker, this is the format that works for me. Now I just need to make it more of a priority.

So to tell a little about each of the kids and what went on in the summer, since it was a little bit crazy with the arrival of sweet little Taivan, I will start with Tommy boy. I can’t quite remember when it began, but he calls all of us in our family our name and then either boy or girl at the end. So for example, I am Mommy-girl, Tom is Daddy-boy, etc. He has also recently started calling any older boy (and this sometimes includes his dad) Dude. He will walk past Matthew and say, “Hey, Dude!” And if I call him anything but Tommy-boy, he corrects me. The only time he will go by anything but that name is when he and Lucy are playing a “game.” They make up some imaginary setting and then they become the characters, and they usually pick names for themselves. Lucy is Annie many times and Tommy is David. Not sure where they came up with these names, but it is cute to listen to them interact and use their imaginations.

Tommy-boy likes to live life and discover all there is to know and experience. He also wants to do or try to do everything by himself. Not long after Taivan was born, Tom told me to run outside with the camera and this is the picture I took when I got out there. A little funny, or hilarious in fact, especially for posterity.

And this is after I got his diaper and pants back on. Love those little smiles. He is a sweet, vivacious boy. He keeps me in stitches. The other night we had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner and he decided he was going to make hot chocolate out of his soup and water. So he spooned the soup into the water cup and stirred  for a bit and then started drinking it. Nasty, I know. We were all disgusted by it, but I couldn’t stop laughing about it. I was laughing pretty hard. Tommy said, “Mom, why are you laughing so hard? It’s just a joke!”

He is/can be a very stubborn boy. I am hoping he is improving on this a little as recently when he has been stuck on something for a while and then realizes it is not that big of a deal, will say “Whatever!” and give it up.

This picture is old. Taivan is one month old in this picture and now is over four months old and growing like a weed. But this picture shows his laid back personality so far. I don’t know what to think of this though, as Tommy seemed to be very similar in temperament as a baby.

Jenny has a love for all things creative and one of her newest creative outlets is photography. She is pretty talented for a nine-year-old. Here are a few sample shots.

Our dog, Millie, aka Jenny’s first love. Wait I think she said the other day that she loved her dad as much as Millie, or maybe she loved him a bit more.

Matthew adores his little brother and holds him all the time. He and Jenny have both gotten to be wonderful helpers to me. Matthew has also really started loving football. I don’t have any pictures of him playing, but I am sure I will soon. I can’t believe next year he will be in jr. high sports. Crazy.
