Lucy has gone through a bit of an adjustment (is going through) since Tommy has been born. That is something we expected. She loves her brother dearly, and there has shown no animosity toward him. She has treated him with so much love from the moment she saw him in the hospital. But she has noticed that things are different now. She has always been very good at expressing herself and letting us know how she feels about things. And in this situation, it is no different. Tom and I were talking to her a couple of days after coming home from the hospital. I asked her if she was a big sister or if she was getting bigger or something to that effect and she said, “No, I’m little. And Tommy is big.” And she is sticking by that. Even today when we asked her if she was big, she said that she was little and that Tommy was big. She said she had a big head, but NO. She was definitely little. And I think that in her way she is saying, “I miss being the youngest. The littlest. I don’t get all the attention like I used to and I want more attention.” It was nice that first day she told us that “she was little”. She fell asleep in my lap and I just started bawling because I knew that she was right. She wasn’t my baby anymore. And all the time alone I had had with her was changing. But oh, I still love her. And I love to see how much she loves her little brother.
So now another video to show what she thinks about Tommy. Books are a huge part of her world and reading them to her means you love her and want to spend time with her. Here she is showing this same kind of love to Tommy.
