I have had two full days home with the kids since school got out and I have to say, I am so very happy to have them home with me! The school year ended with a bang of awards, great marks on report cards, and raving reviews from both Matthew’s and Jenny’s teachers. I have included a picture of Matthew receiving his “Best All-Around Student” award from his teacher. She said in the comments of Matthew’s report card that she wishes she could have a classroom full of Matthews. I guess that means she liked him, huh? And Jenny’s teacher said nothing but good about her and that she will definitely miss her. Jenny has already written a letter and mailed it to her teacher and is anxiously awaiting her reply.
We have some fun plans for the summer. We started the summer reading program here at our public library and are excited about all the prizes and the piles and piles of books we get to read. One of Jenny’s favorite things is listening to books on tape. She has already finished listening to “Ramona Forever” and can’t wait to get a new book on tape next week. I think we cleaned the library out of the “Arthur & D.W.” books. Maybe there will be some new ones checked in next week.
Jenny has also announced that she is going to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels. If you know Jenny at all, you know that once she sets her mind to something, she is not easily dissuaded. So stay tuned for some video of Jenny on her bike. 🙂
In “The Friend” (link is here) this month there is an article entitled “20 Things to Do This Summer” (article is
that we are going to utilize. Since we don’t have many vacations planned for this summer, we are trying to find ways to have fun from home. I am very excited to have my kids home for the summer and to have so many fun things to look forward to doing with them!
