I was looking back and I haven’t posted many pictures of Matthew and Jenny lately. Now that they are in school, I guess more of my time has been focused on Lucy. I do want to post some things that they have said though. Tom’s birthday is coming up this weekend so Matthew asked him a couple day ago, “Dad, what kind of birthday do you want to have? Like a Transformer birthday or a pirate birthday or what?” Of course, if you know Tom at all, you will probably know that his birthday is just not a big deal to him. Something that I find interesting is our kids have never had a themed party. My idea of a party up to this point is making their favorite meal and then enjoying cake and ice cream with friends or family that we have invited over for the occasion. I guess they have been to other parties where they got these ideas. Jenny says that she wants an octopus birthday next time. I’ve never heard of that one. Matthew suggested that she wait until she turns eight since octopuses have eight legs. She hasn’t decided yet if she is going to take his advice or not.
I am still going to post the pictures I have taken lately of Lucy and her newest things. The other day the kids turned on a baby einstein movie for her and ever since then, she LOVES to watch it. Here she is glued to the TV. I guess she is going to be like Matthew and Jenny and get hypnotized when it is on, something that I think can be a very bad thing, but has also worked nicely as a temporary babysitter while I take a nap on the couch or just use the free time to do something that takes no interruptions.

Mom, stop taking my picture so I can watch my movie!

Another thing that Lucy absolutely loves is Ginger, our puppy/dog. She gets so excited whenever I say the name Ginger. Lucy tries to say it and it comes out sounding something like Giguh. She likes to mimic Ginger’s barking and whining, and one of her favorite things is taking Ginger for a walk. This morning we went out and Lucy enjoyed the soothing ride so much she decided to take her morning nap on the way.

She is also saying many other words already. She says button (buttuh), Daddy, ah-duh (all done), eee (eat), Jesus, kitty, and ya. When she gets excited she just says ya over and over again. It seems she learns at least one new word every day. I guess since she is taking her time with the gross motor skills, this is where she is balancing her development. She is almost a year and she isn’t even walking around furniture yet. She will pull herself up to things, but will only take steps if I am holding onto her fingers. Funny girl.
