Lucy probably spends fifty percent of her waking hours sitting in a pile of books, turning pages, looking at pictures, and the latest addition is her jabbering, pretending like she is reading the words on the page. It looks like we will have another bookworm in the family.

A couple of cute mug shots. A little bright, but still cute.

Lately she loves the couch – loves to walk around it, tries to climb on it, likes the comfortable parts of it, thinks crawling on it is the best thing ever. I’m still trying to teach her how to be careful and not dive head-first off or to accidentally fall off. So far, no major accidents and hopefully there will be none if she will catch on to what I am trying to teach her.
She is really starting to use her words to communicate what she wants. If she is tired of something, sitting in her highchair, sitting in the grocery cart, sitting in church, etc., she says “Ah done.” This is pretty cute considering she says this a few times before she starts getting whining.
Another thing she is starting to do is answer my question of “What do you want?” or “What do you need?” when she is whining. Yesterday I asked her what she wanted and she said “Gankie” which means “blankie” or “I’m tired.” And this morning when asked her that same question, she said, “Eat. Unch (lunch).” Even though it was only snack time, I knew what she wanted.
We have a few more pictures of our family and individual members around the house and one of the phrases Lucy has picked up from a little friend is, “sss’ at?” or “What or who’s that?” She will ask me who the different pictures are of, then when I ask her back, she will answer.
She is not walking yet, but is starting to get braver and took her first steps yesterday. I’m assuming with, “I’ll do it when I want to, and you can’t make me” attitude, it could be another couple of months. Oh well. She seems more like a baby when she is crawling. And that is a good thing, considering I get baby hungry a little too fast once they start walking.
