We had a fun visit from Tom’s sister Jenn and her son Sam the beginning of this month. We had a lot of fun outdoor activities planned and, of course, it rained almost the entire time they were here. We did have a cool electrical storm pass over (which included some hail that damaged a few of my plants in my meager garden 🙁 ) one night. Matthew and Jenny were sleeping out in the tent in the backyard, or at least were supposed to be. Well they came in and told us there was lighting and that they were scared. We said that we had heard no thunder and to get back outside in the tent and go to sleep. Five minutes later we started to hear thunder and see some flashes and from the backyard they ran. This time, we could hear the hail moving in. It was crazy. There was an amazing amount of lightning bouncing around in the sky, so we opened the curtains and watched the hail (beat my garden helplessly) and lightning pass over us. The kids are still talking about how “awesome” it was to see that storm. We got some on video, but I haven’t connected the other camera yet. When I do, I will post a clip.
After the large amounts of rain, our backyard, for which we have not yet planted a lawn, was a REALLY muddy mess. We must have left the back door open because Lucy slipped outside and did some fun discovering. We found her muddy, but not too badly covered. I think we all thought it was pretty cute. Here are some pictures.
Here she is saying, “Mess” and trying to wipe her muddy hands on her already soiled pants.
And the back
During the rainy days, since the tent was being flooded, Matthew and Jenny slept in our room on the floor. One night we found Jenny in this position. I wonder what she was dreaming about. “It’s fun to stay at the YMCA. . .”
Matthew also made his first batch of brownies for a family home evening treat. They turned out so well, I didn’t get a picture of the finished product, but I did get some pictures of Lucy enjoying the batter.
“A have some, Mommy?”
We also visited a fun park here in town that has a fishing pond. The kids enjoyed the water immensely and Jenny told me that for her birthday she wants a real fishing pole so she doesn’t have to try to catch fish with a fox tail.
And. . .we also had a short visit from Tom’s parents. Here are a couple of fun pictures I took of them and Grandma Loveland.
Lucy giving Grandma loves.
Enjoying quite a few books read to them by Grandma. We had a great visit, Mom & Dad. Thanks for coming!
