Two things I want to share before I forget. Today while the Matthew and Jenny were riding their bikes around the neighborhood, they ran into two of Jenny’s really good friends from school. They rode bikes for a while and Jenny pointed out where her house was while they were riding by. Later after dinner, these same two friends came and knocked on the door and asked if she could ride bikes for a while. Jenny had just started washing pans, her kitchen job for the day. I told the girls that Jenny would have to finish her pans before she came to play. Matthew jumped in and said, “Jenny, go ahead. I will wash them for you!” I couldn’t argue. I asked Matthew why he was so eager to do her job for her. He told me that Jenny doesn’t get to play with her friends very much and he wanted her to have fun, too. Jenny is a lucky sister.
Tonight Tom was playing with kids, teasing them by pretending to write stuff on their feet. Jenny was screaming and kicking, having fun with it. Tom finally managed to draw something on her foot and she wanted to know what he drew. I told her it was probably a smiley face. Them Tom said, “No, it is a simplified, abstract version of the Mona Lisa! I am going to be famous!” Then Jenny said, “I can see you becoming famous for some things, but not for art.” I wish I could put the animation from their voices in my typing because that made it all so much more entertaining.
I need to pull out my video camera more and get Lucy singing all of her songs. She now sings so many songs I cannot keep track of all of them. Her favorites right now are “Families Can Be Together Forever,” “I Am Like a Star Shining Brightly,” “When My Mother Calls Me,” ( I have sung this one to her quite a bit lately as she is asserting her independence and pushing all the boundaries) “I Am A Child of God”, and a many more. It seems like she is always singing and her favorite thing to do with me is to sit at the piano and go through the primary songbook, singing and singing.
Tommy is now rolling over. He is not sitting yet, but he will. I can’t believe he will be seven months tomorrow! He is cutting many teeth right now and is needy for once. I am enjoying an excuse to just hold him while I can. He is still just such a happy boy. Oh, and this week he finally took off with baby cereal. I have tried multiple times in the past couple of months, but he just couldn’t get the swallowing thing down, nor did he care. Now he leans in to get more and screams when I am not feeding him fast enough.
And just now as I was typing this, Matthew tried on my flip flops. And they fit him. What!?! He is not even nine yet. It begins. Many things are beginning and changing. . . Want to find out more? I am still planning on catching you all up on what is newest in our lives one of these days really soon. I promise.
