So I was just thinking about how my kids make me laugh every day. They all say funny things, not usually on purpose. Some of the newest things said that I can remember are: Matthew – “Mom, I felt a cold poofer (our family’s word for toot) and that was a sign I better go to the bathroom. (Jenny burst into laughter right after this was said. I wonder why.)” Jenny – (very matter-of-factly while cleaning out her dresser drawers) “Mom, I think I should just do one drawer at a time because then it won’t seem so, like, crazy and big, and like, too hard.” I’m not sure where or when she started saying like so much. It reminds me of being a teenager. She is only six, almost seven! She just TALKS like she is older I guess. Her use of vocabulary words really cracks me up sometimes. I try not to let her know because I don’t want to discourage her use of bigger words. Like is such a big word so I definitely don’t discourage the use of that word either. Lucy – “Mom, can you do me a favor?” Me – “Sure.” Lucy – “It’s okay. I’m happy. Never mind.” And something cute, just one word from Lucy that she made up. Colorish. She was using this word in place of colorful and it was precious because I knew exactly what she meant. She would say things like, “Look at of those cars, Mom. They are so colorish!” And now her two favorite words are colorFUL and beautiful. Whenever we get in the car she says something is beautiful. The river flooding, the sky, the green grass and leaves everywhere, the playground. She also calls Jenny and I that very often and, of course, herself. Wowie, I love my kids. Every day is an adventure. And beauty and comedy can be found in the most simple things. 🙂
What my kids say.
